Three Dead in Indiana Murder-Suicide After Shooter Expressed Suicidal Thoughts

Authorities in Harrison County, Indiana, confirmed that three individuals were found dead in a murder-suicide incident at a residence in southern Indiana. The investigation was initiated after a welfare check requested by a family member in Mississippi, who reported that his brother had expressed suicidal thoughts during a phone call earlier that day. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 36-year-old Brett Dixon dead on the front porch with gunshot wounds to the chest and head. Inside the home, two additional victims were found: 54-year-old Melissa Cochran Dixon, who suffered a gunshot wound to the head, and 61-year-old Paul Dixon, who sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The Harrison County Sheriff's Department identified Paul Dixon as the shooter responsible for the deaths of Brett and Melissa before taking his own life. Officials stated that there are no suspects at large and no ongoing threat to the community. The sheriff's office described the incident as a tragic loss and extended condolences to the families and friends of those involved.
