Texas Congressional Candidate Calls for Treason Trials Over Israel Support

Maureen Galindo, a sex therapist and Democratic candidate for Texas’ 35th Congressional District, stated that her primary opponent, Johnny Garcia, and other officials accepting Israeli-affiliated money should be tried for treason. In a radio interview and subsequent confirmation to the New York Post, Galindo argued that such funding supports foreign governments using weapons against Americans and facilitates an AI surveillance state. She alleged without evidence that Israel is contracting with American churches to harvest data and occupying the US through DHS offices. Galindo, who narrowly led Garcia in the initial primary, has faced condemnation from the Jewish Federation of San Antonio and other groups for antisemitic tropes, including previous comments about Jewish Hollywood owners. While she denies being antisemitic, distinguishing her stance as anti-Zionist, her campaign remains financially disadvantaged compared to Garcia. The winner of the Democratic runoff will face a Republican challenger in the general election for a district considered likely to vote Republican. Galindo’s background includes running an astrology-themed sex therapy business.
