Takehiro Tomiyasu Training with Crystal Palace Ahead of Potential Summer Transfer
The Athletic UK exclusively reports that former Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu, 27, is training with Crystal Palace in Como, Italy, as a free agent to prepare for a summer transfer. Tomiyasu, whose contract with Ajax expires at the end of the 2025-26 season, prefers a return to the Premier League. He left Arsenal in July 2025 after an early contract termination, having been sidelined since October 2024 due to injury and undergoing knee surgery in February 2025. He made 84 appearances for Arsenal and later played nine games for Ajax on a six-month deal. Tomiyasu also featured for Japan in the 2026 World Cup. Crystal Palace is providing him a high-level training environment while also seeking a replacement for Maxence Lacroix, who is being transferred to Chelsea for £52 million.
