Swim Grand Prix Portugal Sets Record with 872 Entries for 2026 Edition
The Swim Grand Prix Portugal, one of the largest open water swimming events in the country, will take place on July 18-19, 2026, connecting Lisbon, Oeiras, and Cascais. The 2026 edition has set a new participation record with 872 registered swimmers, surpassing last year's 805 participants. The record was announced at a press conference held next to the Padrão dos Descobrimentos in Lisbon, attended by sports councilors from the three organizing municipalities: Vasco Anjos (Lisbon), Pedro Patacho (Oeiras), and João Rodrigues dos Santos (Cascais). The event features the flagship 20-kilometer Lisbon–Cascais Crossing, along with shorter distances including a 1-kilometer race and a KIDS format for younger participants. Councilor João Rodrigues dos Santos emphasized the importance of inter-municipal collaboration for promoting sports, tourism, and the region's connection to the sea. The event attracts national and international athletes, triathletes, amateurs, and newcomers.
