Sumud Land Convoy Activists in Libya Vow to Deliver Aid to Gaza

Over 300 activists from 30 countries have gathered in Zawiyah, Libya, as part of the Sumud Land Convoy, preparing to break the blockade and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. Participants from nations including Turkey, Indonesia, Algeria, Tunisia, and others emphasized that their sole objective is to provide essential supplies, such as food, medical equipment, and toys, to the besieged population. Engineer Sabahattin Ceyhun, a Turkish participant, highlighted the severe shortage of aid entering Gaza, noting that only 80 trucks are permitted compared to the necessary 600, leaving nearly two million people facing starvation. Activists expressed determination to cross into Gaza via the Rafah border after completing preparations in Libya, traveling through Tripoli and Misrata. Organizers stressed that the mission is purely humanitarian and peaceful, aiming to draw global attention to the crisis and reject what they describe as oppression and genocide against Palestinians. Despite acknowledging significant risks and threats, the diverse international coalition remains united in their resolve to support Gaza, marking a significant mobilization of civil society efforts to address the humanitarian emergency.
