Srikakulam to send 737 buses to Bhogapuram airport inauguration on August 1
The Srikakulam district administration in Andhra Pradesh will operate 737 buses to transport residents to the inauguration of Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1, 2026, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a public meeting. District Collector Swapnil Dinkar Pundkar announced that an exclusive control room will monitor bus movements and facilities, with LED screens displaying drone visuals of the new airport. TDP and BJP leaders highlighted that the airport will reduce travel distance from Srikakulam to 45 km (from the previous need to go to Visakhapatnam) and is expected to spur industrial development along National Highway 16, particularly in the Bhogapuram-Pydibhimavaram-Etcherla stretch, which already hosts multinational bulk drug industries and will gain an aviation university and a Reliance data centre.
