SDCC Stunner: Hall H On Borrowed Time?

At the close of San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Chief Communication and Strategy Officer David Glanzer suggested during the annual Talkback Panel that the iconic Hall H auditorium might be eliminated to generate more revenue. Glanzer noted that the convention outgrew the San Diego Convention Center in 2010 and that Hall H was created by sacrificing exhibition space. He stated that declining sponsorship revenues from hotel and building signage are straining the operating budget, and that the organization may need to explore converting Hall H back to revenue-generating exhibitor space. Comic-Con Chair Robin Donlan confirmed a date shift in 2028 to accommodate the Los Angeles Olympics. Despite these challenges, Comic-Con recently signed an agreement to remain in San Diego through 2030. The public musing about Hall H's future represents a significant escalation in the convention's push for more public support and corporate sponsorship.
