Saab and Embraer Agree on Potential Assembly of 20 Additional Gripen Jets in Brazil
Saab and Embraer have signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) outlining a framework for the potential production of 20 additional Gripen E/F fighter jets at Embraer's Gavião Peixoto facility in São Paulo, Brazil. Under the deal, Embraer would handle assembly of the extra aircraft, supplementing Saab's existing final assembly line. The agreement follows a recent indication by the Brazilian government of a possible order for 20 more Gripen jets. Both companies plan to finalize the corresponding contract in 2026. Saab's CEO stated the partnership reinforces long-term commitment to Latin America and enhances capacity for future business. The HoA builds on a decade-long industrial partnership, including technology transfer and training of Brazilian personnel in Sweden. Embraer's Gavião Peixoto site, which already produces Gripen E jets for the Brazilian Air Force, will leverage its advanced manufacturing capabilities and supplier network to support increased output.
