Russia Launches Massive 731-Weapon Aerial Assault on Ukraine, Targeting Kyiv

Russia executed one of its largest combined aerial attacks in recent months against Ukraine overnight from May 13 to 14, launching a total of 731 missiles and drones. The Ukrainian Air Force reported intercepting or suppressing 693 targets, including ballistic and cruise missiles as well as Shahed-type drones. Despite this high interception rate, impacts were confirmed across 24 locations, with Kyiv identified as the primary target. The assault caused damage to residential areas and infrastructure in the capital, resulting in at least two deaths and dozens of injuries. This sustained barrage, following a daytime drone strike, utilized mixed weapon packages to overwhelm air defenses and exhaust interceptor stocks.
