Robinhood Builds $450M Blockchain in Three Weeks
Robinhood launched its new blockchain, Robinhood Chain, on July 1, 2026, and within three weeks it attracted $450 million in total value locked and processed over 95 million transactions, according to Robinhood Crypto GM Johann Kerbrat. The company is leveraging its 26 million funded accounts to drive adoption of onchain finance products, including stablecoin lending (which has already drawn $100 million at ~7% APY) and tokenized stocks available in 120+ countries. Robinhood is also embracing memecoin activity to bring liquidity and market makers to the chain. The blockchain was built in partnership with Arbitrum, focusing on fast transactions and low fees. The initiative positions Robinhood in direct competition with Coinbase's Base blockchain, aiming to offer 24/7 trading and instant settlement for traditional assets like stocks, real estate, and private equity in the future.
