Physicist warns Martian dust is a major obstacle to Elon Musk's Mars colonization plans
Astrophysicist and science writer Adam Becker argues that toxic, fine Martian dust is a critical and overlooked problem for Elon Musk's vision of a self-sustaining city on Mars. In an interview, Becker explains that the dust would cling to spacesuits, contaminate habitats, water, food, and human bodies, making long-term settlement extremely difficult. Becker concludes that Mars would likely only support a small, depressing research outpost of people living in tunnels.
