PDEXCIL and AWARE partner to help Indian powerloom sector comply with EU traceability rules
The Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) and Amsterdam-based data infrastructure provider AWARE have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi to assist India's powerloom sector in complying with upcoming European Union Digital Product Passport (DPP) regulations. Under the EU's Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, traceability will soon be mandatory for textiles. AWARE's blockchain-anchored tokenisation technology will create unique data tokens for each production batch, containing authenticated information about material origin, composition, and credentials. PDEXCIL will facilitate technology adoption through workshops and training, while AWARE offers preferential terms to members. Data sovereignty remains central, with producers retaining control of their supply chain data. Initial implementation projects are expected to launch shortly with selected PDEXCIL member units.
