Palestinian Committee Marks 78th Nakba Anniversary with Statement on Ongoing Colonial Project

On the seventy-eighth anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba, the Palestinian National Coordinating Body for Popular Action released a statement characterizing the historical displacement as an ongoing crime and a continuous settler-colonial project rather than a past event. The committee asserted that current actions, including the conflict in Gaza, ethnic cleansing, settlement expansion, and efforts to dismantle UNRWA, represent a continuation of the same objective: uprooting Palestinians and eliminating their national rights. The statement criticized international complicity and silence, describing the situation as a dangerous conspiracy to erase Palestinian identity and rights under the guise of war and political deals. It firmly rejected any compromise on Jerusalem or the right of return, emphasizing that Palestine is not a bargaining chip. Concurrently, demonstrations took place in Ramallah, where participants carried flags and symbolic keys representing the right of return. The committee concluded by affirming that the determination to liberate the land and achieve return remains stronger than any political conspiracies aimed at liquidating the Palestinian cause.
