Newcastle United sign Republic of Ireland forward Leanne Kiernan from Liverpool
Newcastle United have confirmed the signing of Republic of Ireland forward Leanne Kiernan from Liverpool for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old spent five years at Liverpool, scoring 23 goals in 76 appearances and playing a key role in their WSL 2 title win in 2022 as top scorer. She spent the second half of last season on loan at Nottingham Forest and had at least a year remaining on her Liverpool contract after signing an extension in 2025. Kiernan, who has 38 caps for Ireland since her 2017 debut, found game time limited under Liverpool boss Gareth Taylor, starting just once in the WSL before her loan move. Newcastle, who have made eight additions this transfer window, aim to challenge for the WSL 2 title. Liverpool have also signed Germany forward Vivien Endemann from Wolfsburg this summer.
