Monaco midfielder Pape Cabral to extend contract until 2031
AS Monaco is set to extend the contract of 19-year-old midfielder Pape Cabral until June 2031, following his professional debut last season. Cabral, a box-to-box midfielder with a powerful shot, impressed former coach Adi Hütter and his successor Sébastien Pocognoli, earning substitute appearances before a hamstring injury in early January limited his playing time. He is captain of the Youth League team and a regular in French youth national teams. New Monaco coach Filipe Luis also appreciates his profile. The extension comes as Monaco completed the third-largest sale of a club-trained player, Aladji Bamba to Newcastle for €35.5 million plus €6 million in bonuses, which is expected to open up more midfield opportunities for Cabral.
