AS Monaco 19-year-old midfielder Pape Cabral extends contract until 2031

While AS Monaco completed the sale of Aladji Bamba to Newcastle United — the third-largest transfer of a club-trained player at €35.5 million plus €6 million in bonuses — the club has simultaneously made progress on securing another of its highly promising midfielders.

Pape Cabral's Breakthrough Season

Pape Cabral, who also made his professional debut last season, quickly caught the attention of then-manager Adi Hütter. Hütter brought the midfielder on against Lorient (1-3) on September 27, 2025, and again four days later against Manchester City, where the now 19-year-old came close to scoring with a volley in a 2-2 draw.

Sébastien Pocognoli, Hütter's successor, continued to show faith in Cabral, giving him several substitute appearances. However, a hamstring injury in early January prevented the young midfielder from accumulating further playing time for the remainder of the season.

Contract Extension Until 2031

Cabral, who served as captain of the Youth League team last year and has been a regular in French youth national teams since the U16 level, is described as a box-to-box midfielder with a powerful shot. He made a strong impression on new Monaco coach Filipe Luis during the first two weeks of preseason training.

Luis appreciates Cabral's profile, as do the club's directors, with whom the player has just agreed to a three-year contract extension running until June 2031. Bamba's departure is expected to open up additional opportunities for Cabral in Monaco's midfield.
