Molicel Capitalizes on Global Hybrid Surge, Unveiling Next-Gen Cell Technology
Molicel, a Taiwanese ultra-high-power cell manufacturer, announced its next-generation INR-21700-P70X cell at the Advanced Automotive Battery Conference (AABC) Europe 2026. The cell bridges lithium-ion batteries and supercapacitors, offering 7000 mAh capacity, 340 Wh/kg energy density, and 30C continuous discharge. The release capitalizes on a global surge in hybrid vehicle demand as BEV growth slows, with hybrids reaching nearly 20% of US sales and 24% in Europe. The Asia-Pacific region holds 51.67% of the global hybrid market. Molicel's cell features under-200-microsecond power switching, 96% capacity retention after 1 million cycles under hybrid-like conditions, and passes UL9540A thermal runaway safety testing. The company positions the PX series as a key enabler for next-generation hybrid powertrains.
