Macronist Vincent Caure Elected President of National Assembly Law Committee
On July 21, 2026, MP Vincent Caure, a 33-year-old Macronist and former deputy chief of staff to President Emmanuel Macron, was elected president of the French National Assembly's Law Committee. He succeeded fellow Macronist Florent Boudié, who left the Assembly after his government mission on encrypted messaging was extended beyond the six-month limit for parliamentarians. Caure, who represents French citizens in Northern Europe since 2024, won the election with 36 votes against 27 for socialist rival Colette Capdevielle. The Law Committee oversees sovereign and constitutional matters. Boudié's departure, effective July 19, 2026, marked the beginning of the legislature's epilogue, and his alternate Marie-Sophie Bernadeau took his seat.
