MP Vincent Caure was elected president of the National Assembly's Law Committee on Tuesday, July 21, succeeding fellow Macronist Florent Boudié, Agence France-Presse learned from a parliamentary source. The committee oversees sovereign and constitutional matters.

Departure of Florent Boudié
Florent Boudié, also an MP for the Ensemble pour la République group, had chaired the Law Committee since 2024. In early July, he announced his departure from the National Assembly, where he had sat since 2012. His term as MP ended on July 19 at midnight.
According to Le Monde, Boudié left the Palais-Bourbon due to the extension of his government mission on encrypted messaging beyond July 18. The six-month limit during which parliamentarians can serve on government missions was therefore exceeded. His mandate was relinquished in favor of his alternate, Marie-Sophie Bernadeau, deputy mayor of Libourne (Gironde).
