London Mint Office, UK Arm of Nobel Peace Prize Maker, Seeks Administrator
The London Mint Office, a major numismatic distributor and part of Europe's largest coin company, the Samlerhuset Group, is lining up administrators after 20 years in business. Founded in 2006, the UK entity acts as a retailer for collectors, including items celebrating British royalty and military anniversaries. Its parent company, Samlerhuset, owns The Mint of Norway, which manufactures the Nobel Peace Prize's gold medals. On Tuesday, law firm TLT filed a notice of intention to appoint an administrator in the English High Court. The company reported a net pre-tax loss of nearly £1.8m in 2024, attributed to challenges from new IT systems. Restructuring firm Alvarez & Marsal was drafted in to try to secure a sale. The London Mint Office is not to be confused with The Royal Mint, the UK's official legal tender body.
