Italian Sports Journalist Found Charred Near Naples, Homicide Suspected
The charred body of Italian sports journalist Luigi Esposito, 53, was discovered on Sunday by firefighters responding to a fire in Eboli, south of Naples. The Salerno prosecutor, Raffaele Cantone, stated that initial investigative elements indicate a homicide, with the victim apparently shot before being burned in vegetation. The body was so damaged that it was initially impossible to determine the victim's gender. Esposito, also known as Luca, covered sports for several local media outlets and also worked for the regional environmental agency. The Italian National Order of Journalists confirmed his identity and awaits the investigation's outcome to understand the context of the brutal murder.
