IndiGo to place order for over 1,000 aircraft engines with CFM International
IndiGo, India's largest airline, announced on July 20, 2026, that it will place an order with CFM International for more than 1,000 LEAP-1A engines to power its 510 Airbus A320 neo family aircraft. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the Farnborough International Airshow in the UK. This order is described as the largest single order ever for LEAP engines and a record for CFM International. Financial details were not disclosed. CFM International will also support IndiGo in establishing an engine MRO facility in Bengaluru and provide long-term material services. IndiGo CEO Designate Willie Walsh cited the LEAP engine's reliability as key to supporting the airline's scale, operational resilience, and sustainability goals. IndiGo currently operates over 400 planes and has over 900 Airbus aircraft on order.
