Hard Rock Bet Secures Ontario License for Sports Betting and iGaming Launch
Hard Rock Bet, the online sports betting and iGaming brand owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, has officially received an iGaming registration from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). This regulatory approval marks a significant step toward launching its digital platform in Ontario, which will serve as its first entry into the Canadian market. The move complements the company's existing physical presence, following the opening of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa last year. This omnichannel strategy aims to leverage the brick-and-mortar facility to drive digital engagement and vice versa. While the brand is already operational in ten U.S. states, this license represents its initial expansion north of the border. The registration requires Hard Rock Bet to finalize a contract with iGaming Ontario before going live. Additionally, the development has sparked speculation regarding potential expansion into Alberta, which is scheduled to open its own competitive online gambling market on July 13. Currently, only Ontario and Alberta allow private-sector operators to obtain licenses for legal online betting under provincial regulation.
