Hard Rock Bet Secures Ontario Licence for Sports Betting and iGaming Launch
Hard Rock Bet, the online sports betting and iGaming brand owned by the Seminole Tribe of Florida, has officially received an iGaming registration from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). This regulatory approval marks a significant step toward launching its digital services in Ontario, which will be the brand's first entry into the Canadian market. The move complements the physical Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Ottawa, which opened last year, creating an omnichannel strategy that links brick-and-mortar operations with digital platforms. While the registration allows Hard Rock Bet to proceed, the company must still finalize a contract with iGaming Ontario before going live. Currently operational in ten U.S. states, this expansion represents Hard Rock's first venture north of the U.S. border. The development also sparks speculation about potential future expansion into Alberta, where a competitive online gambling market is scheduled to launch on July 13. Unlike other Canadian provinces, Ontario and Alberta allow private-sector operators to obtain licenses for legal betting under provincial regulation. Hard Rock Bet has not yet commented on its specific timeline for launch or intentions regarding the Alberta market.
