Google Announces AirDrop Support for Over 15 Android Phones via Quick Share
During its Android Show event, Google revealed that more than fifteen Android smartphones will soon support interoperability with Apple's AirDrop feature. This integration aims to simplify file sharing between iOS and Android devices through the Android Quick Share menu. Currently, this functionality is available on select flagship models, including the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, Google Pixel 9 and 10 lines, and specific Oppo and Vivo devices. The newly announced list of upcoming supported devices includes the Samsung Galaxy S24 and S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold and Flip models (versions 6 and 7), the Galaxy Z Trifold, Oppo Find X8 series, OnePlus 15, and Honor Magic V6 and Magic8 Pro. While Xiaomi devices are also confirmed to receive support, specific models have not yet been identified. For Android phones not included in the direct compatibility list, Google is introducing a QR code generation feature within Quick Share. This alternative method allows iOS users to scan a code to receive files, offering a slightly less seamless but effective cross-platform sharing solution. The QR code feature is rolling out immediately and is expected to reach all eligible devices by June 2026.
