AI Filmmaking Startup Flick Raises $6 Million Seed Round

Flick, an AI-powered filmmaking platform co-founded by married couple Ray Wang and Zoey Zhang, has successfully raised $6 million in seed funding. The round was backed by prominent investors including True Ventures, GV, Lightspeed, and Y Combinator, where the startup participated in the Fall 2025 batch. Zhang, a filmmaker who experienced career breakthroughs using AI tools, partnered with Wang, a former Instagram engineer, to create a user-friendly interface that simplifies video creation. Flick integrates various AI models, such as Google’s Veo 3 and Midjourney, allowing users to generate short films through chat-based prompts while maintaining character consistency. Positioned as a combination of Figma and Cursor for filmmakers, the platform aims to democratize content creation by reducing reliance on traditional equipment and crews. Despite concerns about AI replacing Hollywood jobs, the founders argue that their tool will expand opportunities by enabling more people to produce high-quality aesthetic content. The five-person team is currently expanding its industry relationships and considering a relocation from the Bay Area to Los Angeles to better serve the entertainment sector.
