Farnborough Airshow Opens with £36.2 Billion in Aircraft Deals
The first day of the Farnborough International Airshow generated over £36.2 billion in commercial aircraft deals, with 234 firm aircraft orders placed—a 44% increase from the previous show's opening day, according to trade association ADS. The orders, worth $48.8 billion, are expected to contribute £5.2 billion to the UK aerospace sector, supporting its 113,000-strong workforce. Additionally, 446 firm aircraft engine orders were announced. ADS CEO Kevin Craven highlighted the strong global confidence in aerospace. The industry faces a record global backlog of 16,925 aircraft, with delivery rates extending into the next decade.
