Eray Cömert leaves Valencia with regret, joins Torino after contract expires
Swiss international defender Eray Cömert has officially ended his time at Valencia CF, posting an emotional farewell on social media one month after his contract expired on June 30, 2026. Cömert admitted he held a small hope of staying, and both parties attempted to negotiate a renewal but failed to reach an agreement. The 27-year-old center-back, who joined Valencia from Basel in January 2022, had loan spells at Nantes (2023-24) and Valladolid (2024-25) before returning for his final season. He regained prominence in the second half of the 2025-26 campaign under Carlos Corberán, taking advantage of injuries to Diakhaby and Copete, and delivered his best performances for the club. According to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Cömert has agreed to a two-season contract with Serie A side Torino. Valencia currently has center-backs Tárrega, De Haas, Diakhaby (injury-prone), and Copete (injured until September-October), plus Iker Córdoba returning from loan.
