Cursor, AI coding firm acquired by SpaceX, launches CFO Council to measure AI ROI
Cursor, the AI coding company being acquired by SpaceX in a $60 billion all-stock deal, has launched a CFO Council to help finance leaders measure the return on investment (ROI) of artificial intelligence. The council, announced by Cursor COO Jordan Topoleski, will meet quarterly in rotating cities starting August 18 in San Francisco. Members include CFOs from Natera, Payoneer, Firstsource, First American Bank, JFrog, Amplitude, SentinelOne, Paytm, and Asana. The council aims to create shared benchmarks for AI productivity, a framework for measuring 'return on intelligence,' and guidance on cost controls. Topoleski noted that CFOs are increasingly expected to quantify AI spending, moving from experimental budgets to material operating expenses. The initiative reflects a broader trend of finance leaders becoming central to AI strategy, with Cursor's own finance department among the heaviest users of its AI tools.
