Crash Drama: Germany's Hope Lipowitz Forced Out of Tour de France
German cyclist Florian Lipowitz, third-place finisher in the previous year's Tour de France, suffered a heavy crash during the 16th stage individual time trial from Evian-les-Bains to Thonon-les-Bains, forcing him to abandon the race injured. The stage was won by his Red Bull teammate Remco Evenepoel, who dominated the competition, finishing 28 seconds ahead of Tadej Pogacar. Pogacar continues safely in the yellow jersey. Lipowitz's withdrawal is a major blow to German hopes in the race.
