US Congratulates Bahamian PM Philip Davis on Historic Re-election Victory

The United States, through Secretary of State Marco Rubio, has congratulated Bahamian Prime Minister Philip Davis on his re-election victory in the general elections held on Tuesday. The Trump administration expressed readiness to continue collaborating with the Bahamas on economic and infrastructure partnerships to foster sustainable growth and regional stability. Davis led the incumbent Progressive Liberal Party (PLP) to a historic second consecutive term, marking the first time a party has retained power for two straight terms since 1997. Although full results are pending, the PLP is projected to secure a significant majority in the 41-seat Parliament. Davis celebrated the outcome as a choice for progress by the Bahamian people. Meanwhile, Michael Pintard, leader of the opposition Free National Movement (FNM), conceded defeat while affirming the significance of every vote cast. Notably, former Prime Minister Hubert Minnis lost his seat while running as an independent candidate. The US also commended domestic and international observers, including the Organization of American States, for ensuring transparency and confidence in the electoral process.
