Thousands of colleges and schools worldwide faced significant disruptions to final exams and academic operations after hackers targeted Canvas, the online learning platform managed by Instructure Inc. The cyberattack, attributed to a criminal threat actor, exploited a vulnerability in teacher accounts, leading to the suspension of services and the theft of user data including names, email addresses, and student identification numbers.
