Clifford Chance Partners Earn £2.3m Each as Private Markets Fuel Record Revenue
Magic circle law firm Clifford Chance reported record annual results, with revenue surpassing £2.6bn for the first time, a 9% increase from £2.4bn the previous year. The growth was driven by strong momentum in private markets, including private equity, M&A, funds, restructuring, and private credit. The firm advised on private equity and M&A transactions totaling $300bn, including seven deals over $10bn each. Partnership profit exceeded £1bn for the first time, rising 11% to £1.05bn, while profit per equity partner climbed 9% to approximately £2.3m. Global managing partner Charles Adams attributed the results to client trust in cross-border matters. The firm also expanded its US presence, hiring 25 lateral partners and promoting 28 internally, with 15 based in the US, contributing to a 9% revenue increase in the US market.
