Brazilian Defender Victor Gabriel Suspended Until Injured Cruzeiro Player Returns to Training
The Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) in Brazil has suspended Internacional Porto Alegre defender Victor Gabriel from playing until Cruzeiro forward Gabriel Pec returns to training, with a maximum suspension period of 180 days. The punishment stems from a violent tackle during a weekend match that fractured Pec's leg. Victor Gabriel was judged under an article covering violent plays, which normally carries a one-to-six match ban, but the STJD Prosecutor's Office pushed for an aggravated penalty. Despite the defender's testimony expressing regret and apologizing, the court voted in favor of the extended suspension. Pec has undergone surgery and faces a recovery period of three to four months, during which Victor Gabriel will be banned from playing.
