19 arrested as Police seize drugs worth over $97 million in Canada
Ontario Provincial Police announced the arrest of 19 individuals, most believed to be of Indian-origin, in one of Canada's largest drug busts. The intelligence-led cross-border investigation, codenamed Project Bay, dismantled a drug trafficking network that used commercial transport routes to smuggle narcotics into Canada from the U.S. Authorities seized nearly 1.7 tonnes of drugs including 973 kg of cocaine, 660 kg of methamphetamine, and 49 kg of opium, with an estimated street value of over $97 million. The operation involved multiple law enforcement agencies including the Canada Border Services Agency. Police executed 22 search warrants across several Ontario cities, also seizing firearms, cash, jewelry, and electronics. Two suspects remain at large.
