Armenian Government Approves Bill to Formalize Role in Trump-Backed TRIPP Trade Corridor
On July 16, the Armenian government approved a bill to formalize the country's role in developing the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), a key node in the emerging Middle Corridor trade network. The bill affirms guidelines from a US-Armenian framework agreement signed in January, with the US holding a 74 percent stake and Armenia retaining the remainder. The TRIPP Development Co. will have a 49-year lease to build and operate the route. The bill now faces review by Armenia's Constitutional Court before a parliamentary vote. Separately, the US State Department appointed Konstantin Sokolov, a Chicago-based private equity investor and donor to a Trump White House project, to head a $200 million fund promoting the Middle Corridor. TRIPP is considered the centerpiece of the provisional Armenian-Azerbaijani peace deal signed at the White House in August 2025.
