Amadou leaves Sporting Gijón on loan to Portuguese second division side Académica de Coimbra
Senegalese striker Amadou has left Spanish club Sporting Gijón on loan to Associação Académica de Coimbra, a team in the Portuguese Second Division, with a future purchase option included. The move was not initially planned by Sporting's board or coach Nicolás Larcamón. Amadou debuted last season with Sporting's first team, playing 18 matches and scoring two goals, but his performance fell short of expectations after he had scored 47 goals in the previous two campaigns in the Tercera Federación. Earlier interest from Ukrainian club FC Karpaty Lviv and Spanish side Real Avilés fell through due to bureaucratic and financial issues. Amadou had renewed his contract with Sporting until 2029 in November, but the club decided to explore loan options. Académica OAF secured the deal and holds the option to permanently acquire the player.
