Serbia declared its highest terror alert after a knife attack on a police officer guarding the Israeli embassy in Belgrade. Interior Minister Ivica Dacic said the attacker, a reportedly minor Serbian from Sabac known to authorities as an Islamic State supporter, shouted "Allahu akbar!" and wounded the officer, who shot him dead in self-defense shortly after midnight. Dacic called the incident a terrorist act and said the highest terror warning level was activated for the country. The case is under investigation. The article notes a similar June 2024 crossbow attack on a Serbian guard at the same embassy, in which the officer was wounded and the assailant fatally shot.
