In a Fox News interview, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos expressed a preference for the term 'Super Intelligence' (SI) over 'Artificial Intelligence' (AI), arguing that the word 'artificial' carries a negative connotation, similar to 'artificial sweetener' or 'artificial flavoring,' which implies something fake. Bezos acknowledged that changing the widespread usage from AI to SI would be a significant challenge, as people are already accustomed to the term AI. The remarks highlight a semantic debate within the tech industry about the perception and branding of advanced AI systems.

Jeff Bezos Advocates for "Super Intelligence" Over "Artificial Intelligence"
In a recent interview on Fox News, Jeff Bezos expressed his preference for the term "Super Intelligence" (SI) over "Artificial Intelligence" (AI), citing the negative connotations associated with the word "artificial."
"I do like SI (Super Intelligence) because 'artificial' is not a very flattering thing," Bezos said. "Like nobody wants an artificial sweetener or artificial flavoring—sort of means fake."
He acknowledged the challenge of shifting public terminology, noting, "It's a big road to change everybody getting to say 'super intelligence' only because they're so used to AI at this point."
