Tesla held an unveiling event on September 25 at its new Semi factory in Sparks, Nevada, announcing the start of规模化 (large-scale) production and delivery of its electric Semi truck, with a target annual capacity of 50,000 units. The first deliveries began this week to customers including PepsiCo, which received initial units in December 2022, and DHL, which received its first Semi in December 2025. The launch coincides with record-high US diesel prices above $6.50 per gallon on September 21. In China, Tesla launched limited-time purchase incentives through October 31, offering discounts of up to 8,000 yuan on Model 3 and Model Y vehicles to address sales pressure. Separately, CEO Elon Musk on September 23 praised Tesla's Shanghai factory team and forecast that global humanoid robot deployment could reach at least 1 billion units within 10 years, 10 billion in 15 years, and 100 billion in 20 years. He advised young people to study humanities, arts, science, and engineering to adapt to the human-machine collaboration era.

Semi Factory Opens in Nevada
On September 25, Tesla held a launch event at its newly built Semi-dedicated factory in Sparks, Nevada, marking the start of volume production and delivery of its electric truck. Deliveries to initial customers will begin this week, with PepsiCo among the first recipients.
It is worth noting that this is not the first delivery of the Semi. Tesla had already delivered its first units to PepsiCo in December 2022, and in December 2025, DHL received its first Semi for trial operations in its California fleet. The milestone comes nearly nine years after Elon Musk first unveiled the Semi in 2017.
During a livestreamed event, Tesla executives reiterated that the Sparks factory has an annual production capacity target of 50,000 units (approximately 1,000 per week). However, the company has yet to disclose specific production plans or pricing.
The Semi's long-range version can travel 500 miles on a single charge under full load, while the standard version offers a range of 325 miles. The product is aimed at the long-haul freight market.
The launch coincides with historically high diesel prices in the United States. Driven by global fuel supply tensions linked to the Middle East situation, the national average diesel price exceeded $6.50 per gallon on September 21, setting a new record.
Aggressive Promotions in China
In the Chinese market, Tesla is rolling out aggressive promotions to address sales pressure. On September 25, Tesla China announced a new round of limited-time purchase incentives:
- Model 3: All variants receive a final payment discount of 5,000 yuan (valid until October 31)
- Model Y: Select variants receive a final payment discount of 7,000 yuan
- Model 3: Select variants also qualify for an additional 8,000 yuan insurance subsidy
Humanoid Robot Business Advances
According to Xinhua Finance, Tesla's robotics supply chain is extending into auto parts companies such as Top Group, Sanhua Intelligent Controls, and Joyson Electronics, which are expanding their capabilities in robot components and have existing ties to Tesla's new energy vehicle business.
In a separate report from CCTV Finance, Elon Musk on September 23 gave high praise to Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory, stating: "The success of the Shanghai Gigafactory is due to the Chinese team." He commended the team for its talent, first-class product quality, and exceptional production efficiency.
Musk also shared his outlook on humanoid robots:
- At least 1 billion humanoid robots globally within 10 years, or possibly sooner
- Up to 10 billion units within the next 15 years
- As many as 100 billion units within the next 20 years
He advised young people to broadly study the humanities, arts, science, and engineering to build a strong general knowledge foundation, in order to meet the higher demands for questioning and judgment in the era of human-machine collaboration.
