Beijing, September 23 (Reported by Zhao Wenqi) — Recent online speculation that Chinese restaurant chain Xibei would "completely go bankrupt within two to three months" has drawn public attention. On September 23, National Business Daily noted that Wang Huiwen, co-founder of Meituan, posted on the social platform "Jike" in response:
"I heard Xibei is going bankrupt. Is anyone interested in forming a group to buy it? I quite like Xibei. I don't care whether it uses pre-made dishes or not — as long as the hygiene is up to standard and the taste is good, I'm fine with it."
According to public records, Wang Huiwen is a co-founder of Meituan. He retired from the company in 2020 and founded Guangnian Zhiwai in 2023, entering the AI large model sector. In 2024, Meituan founder and CEO Wang Xing announced in an internal letter that Wang Huiwen would serve as a Meituan advisor on a part-time basis.
In response to the bankruptcy rumors, Xibei previously stated:
"All stores nationwide are operating normally. We will continue to provide quality products and services, uphold our standards, and serve every customer with dedication. We also urge everyone to view online information rationally."
