On September 21, Xie Shiqi, General Manager of the SAIC Audi Marketing Business Division, responded to recent media reports about overseas parallel imports of China-specific AUDI electric vehicles. He stated that some reports contained hype and misinterpretation. Earlier, media reported that traders were exporting Chinese-market AUDI EVs to Germany, and that Audi headquarters was displeased and considering legal action. Xie clarified that the cited Audi spokesperson statement referred only to after-sales service limitations for non-official parallel imports, which are treated as third-party vehicles, not as a rejection of the brand. He emphasized that Audi's global headquarters fully supports the AUDI brand, viewing it as central to its electric and intelligent transformation. Xie noted that Audi Global CEO Gernot Döllner has attended multiple AUDI brand events, and the E5 Sportback is displayed alongside the Audi F1 car at the Ingolstadt headquarters. September 21 — In response to recent media reports regarding the parallel import of AUDI-branded electric vehicles to Germany, Xie Shiqi, General Manager of the Marketing and Sales Division at SAIC Audi, stated that certain reports have been exaggerated and misinterpreted.
“Audi’s global headquarters has not only fully embraced the AUDI brand but also regards it as the core of its electric and intelligent transformation,” Xie said.
Clarification on Parallel Import Reports
Earlier reports indicated that traders had begun parallel-importing China-specific Audi electric vehicles to Germany, and that Audi headquarters was reportedly displeased and considering legal action to block such imports.
Xie clarified that the statements attributed to an Audi spokesperson by foreign media were taken out of context. “The remarks were made in the context of after-sales service, expressing that Audi cannot provide service guarantees for non-officially supported parallel-imported AUDI vehicles, as these would be treated as third-party vehicles. This was not a sign of disapproval of the brand,” he explained.
Strong Support from Audi Global
According to Xie, Audi’s global leadership has shown strong support for the AUDI brand.
“From the brand launch and factory completion, to the unveiling, pre-sale, and market launch of new models, Audi Global CEO Gernot Döllner has attended and participated in multiple AUDI brand events,” Xie noted.
He added, “Our E5 Sportback even stands alongside Audi’s F1 race car in the exhibition hall at the headquarters in Ingolstadt, Germany.”
