On September 21, A-share markets rose with the Shanghai Composite up 0.55% and the ChiNext Index gaining 0.93% to reclaim 3,400 points. The pharmaceutical and biomedical sector led gains, with Huaren Pharmaceutical hitting the 20% daily limit on over 340,000 buy orders, and multiple other biotech stocks also surging. The basic chemicals sector also rallied sharply, driven by a more than 7% intraday drop in domestic crude oil futures, which analysts said lowers costs for some chemical sub-sectors. In Hong Kong, Yingpai Pharmaceutical (InxMed) surged over 40% after the European Medicines Agency's CHMP recommended approval of its ovarian cancer drug Sepalna (senaparib), pending final EU Commission decision. Other sectors such as real estate, beauty care, and building materials also posted gains.
