Palace Letter Clarifies Status
Prince Harry (41) and Duchess Meghan (45) do not belong to the inner circle of the Royal Family as "working royals," even after their return to the UK. The Palace clarified this in a letter to various authorities at the request of King Charles III (77).
"Working royals" refers to family members who perform public duties and, in return, receive funding from the state treasury and close police protection. The couple had deliberately given up these privileges.
The letter states that relevant police departments remain responsible for security matters. The aim of the communication is to avoid "doubt or confusion."
