Microsoft has released MAI-Image-2.6-Flash, an optimized version of its flagship MAI-Image-2.6 model, on Microsoft Foundry. The new model immediately secured the #3 position on the Artificial Analysis Image Editing Leaderboard, behind only Microsoft's own MAI-Image-2.6 and OpenAI's GPT Image 2 (high), and narrowly ahead of Google's Nano Banana 2. In Text to Image generation, it ranks #8, within 5 Elo points of MAI-Image-2.5 and ahead of Google's Nano Banana Pro. Compared to its predecessor MAI-Image-2.5-Flash at the same price point, MAI-Image-2.6-Flash shows significant improvement: a 69 Elo point gain in Text to Image (moving from #16 to #8) and a 34 Elo point gain in Image Editing (moving from #12 to #3). The model joins MAI-Image-2.6 on the Pareto frontier for quality versus price, offering both text-to-image generation and image editing capabilities.
