Crystal Palace Rejects Liverpool's Initial Approach for Ismaila Sarr

Hupu, August 26 — The Athletic UK's lead reporter David Ornstein has confirmed that Crystal Palace has rejected Liverpool's initial approach for Ismaila Sarr.

Liverpool discussed the possibility of signing the 28-year-old Crystal Palace attacker while continuing their search for a right winger. However, the club quickly learned that Palace was unwilling to sell. After being rebuffed by Brighton for Minteh and by Crystal Palace for Sarr, Liverpool has once again turned elsewhere to assess market opportunities.

No Formal Offer Made

Exploratory talks did not result in a formal offer. Sources told The Athletic that only an astronomical bid could change Crystal Palace's stance. Since Liverpool still has other targets in mind, they are unlikely to make concessions.

Iraola's team still hopes to reach a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for Barcola, who prefers to play on the left wing and has been discussing a transfer throughout the summer. Minteh has also been on Liverpool's radar for some time, but Brighton continues to hold out for a higher transfer fee after rejecting a second offer of £60 million.

Sarr's Absence from Opening Match

Sarr missed the opening match against Everton due to speculation about his future at Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace's manager insisted that the Senegalese international's absence was due to injury.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the manager said he expects Sarr to remain at Crystal Palace:

"At the moment, yes. When you have three years left on your contract, it's not easy to leave. I understand that if everyone has such contact, it's difficult because you hesitate a lot, but for now he is with us and has a contract. He is injured. Maybe you can link the injury to the situation, but to me, he is honest. Palace's Stance on Sarr

Crystal Palace's position on Sarr is logical for several reasons:

• He was the team's best player and top scorer last season
• Finding a suitable replacement so late in the transfer window would be extremely difficult
• No other player in the squad possesses his characteristics
• Selling him would mean another key player leaving, requiring further adaptation under manager Sarr
• His direct dribbling, speed, and finishing ability are crucial to Crystal Palace's style of play
