In a stunning UEFA Champions League playoff second leg, Austrian side LASK Linz overturned a 0-3 first-leg deficit and an early 0-1 home deficit (0-4 aggregate) to defeat Celtic 5-1 on the night, winning 5-4 on aggregate. Trailing 0-4 on aggregate after a 21st-minute goal by Celtic's McGregor, LASK scored four goals in regular time, with Flecker equalizing in the 90th minute to force extra time. In extra time, Adeniran scored to complete the comeback, despite missing a late penalty. The victory sends LASK to the Champions League group stage in miraculous fashion, while Celtic drop into the Europa League group stage, missing the Champions League for a second consecutive season after being eliminated by Kairat Almaty in the playoffs last season.

Hupu, August 26 — In a just-concluded UEFA Champions League play-off second leg match, last season's Austrian champions Linz staged a stunning comeback.
Having lost 3-0 away in Scotland in the first leg, Linz fell behind 1-0 at home in the 21st minute after a goal by McGregor, making the aggregate score 4-0. However, they scored four goals in regular time to force extra time, with Fleck's 90th-minute goal serving as the equalizer.
In extra time, Adeniran added another goal (and later missed a penalty in the 115th minute), sealing a 5-1 victory over Celtic. Linz won 5-4 on aggregate and qualified for the Champions League group stage in near-miraculous fashion.
Celtic, dropping into the Europa League group stage, have now missed the Champions League group stage for two consecutive seasons, having been eliminated by Kairat Almaty in the play-offs last season.
