FinanceHedge fund billionaire Stanley Druckenmiller acknowledged that his Wall Street Journal op-ed criticizing Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's bond buyback expansion was written using artificial intelligence. The op-ed, which argued that Bessent's policy to double government bond repurchases to $4 billion per operation was 'price management — and a mistake,' had been flagged by social media users and an AI-detection tool called Pangram as 100% AI-generated. Druckenmiller told NOTUS he was not embarrassed, comparing AI use to using a calculator for math. The Treasury Department announced the expansion on Aug. 19, triggering a temporary slump in long-dated bond yields. Druckenmiller, a former mentor to Bessent at Soros Fund Management, believes high yields serve as a natural warning for high debt and deficits. Forbes estimates Druckenmiller's net worth at $7.8 billion.
