At full time, he did not applaud fans and an Atletico scarf was thrown at his feet. Coach Diego Simeone said it was the club's decision for Alvarez not to approach the fans. Atletico Madrid's leadership sources indicate they would consider a €150 million offer for Alvarez, but only from Arsenal, not from Barcelona or Real Madrid. Arsenal have a longstanding interest and have had contacts with the player's camp and Atletico, but are waiting for encouragement from Alvarez.
