US Space Force unveils new ceremonial dress uniform for Honor Guard

The United States Space Force has unveiled a new, original ceremonial dress uniform for its Honor Guard, marking a significant step in establishing the service's distinct identity seven years after its creation. The uniform, which features dark gray pants and shirt, a dark blue coat with a diagonal closure and hexagonal Space Force symbol, along with a dark cap bearing the delta insignia, white gloves, and a light blue belt and shoulder rope, will be publicly debuted by Guardians at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix IndyCar event in Washington, D.C. on August 23. Previously, Space Force personnel, including the Honor Guard, used modified Air Force uniforms. The design was finalized over eight months following guidance released in January. Chief Master Sgt. Ross Koehler, senior enlisted leader for the USSF Honor Guard, stated the uniform will help the public immediately recognize Guardians. The Space Force, the smallest U.S. military branch, has been working to create its own identity, including developing unique uniforms, with new dress uniforms already issued to graduates of basic training in late 2025.
